I have the middle core of the SWA (with its sheafing) running directly out of the back of the box, through some 20mm conduit, into the shed, where it's going to be terminated into an FCU. What junction box would you recommend for terminating 2 end of 10mm SWA? The box will be mounted on the outside of my log cabin with a feed to the shed behind. Needs to be waterproof. Thanks guys. Gawd, why don't you just terminate the SWA where it comes out of the wall at high level into a 4x4 or 6x6 adaptable box, run it down the wall, and fasten back with appropriately sized cleats, dig up the footpath (650mm depth) and run up the opposite wall in SWA, join again into an adaptable box to exiting cable and job done? It's all SWA apart from the runs from the top gland of each junction box and up the fence posts to each light fixture. I am fitting an SWA cable to get power to a garden Gazebo. I have bought (from screwfix) 2.5mm 3-core SWA cable, and I intend to bury it around the edge of the garden. The bit I am stuck on is which 'cable lgands' I need to connect this to the IP66 junction box. Screwfix sell 6 different ones, but I cannot tell the differnce. Thanks in advance If the flex from the boxes to lights is short and clipped direct, not buried, then it's fine. The SWA cable does need glanding properly, and earth plates used to maintain continuity of the armouring. These boxes are usually pretty good for water ingress. I would suspect the gland on the top. Then threaded through the wall into the box inside. That way, you do not need a junction inside the outer box, or a short bit of T&E to join inside and outside. You can choose to have the 13A FCU inside,or (my prefernce) have it outside, come through the back of the socket box into the external FCU and gland the SWA on to the bottom of the FCU box.
It looks to me that the silicone protecting the cables entering from the bottom of your present junction box has weakened and is letting water in. If that's the case, replace the junction box and fill the new one with gel. If you have SWA to terminate, you can either use a Wiska SWA earth clamp bar with a Wiska junction box or a Pratley .
